Remember Me

As a patriot who dissented, as needed.
As a wordsmith who used craft to facilitate
justice and survival.
As someone who left it all on whatever court
she aimed to own that moment.
As a student who never stopped learning.
As saying, “If you don’t want it badly enough
to hurt for it,
you don’t actually want it.”
As a woman who came to love her
crippled, queer, brown body
despite certain people’s disgust.
