Better Words than Mine at the Moment

This found poem is taken exactly from George Takei’s, better known as Star Trek’s Mr.  Sulu, Facebook status at 1:39 PM on December 14, 2012. I know it doesn’t bring anyone back, but it was the only way I could think of to respond.  Original work on this horrible event is still forming within my stunned synapses.

This will be my only post today.

We are shocked and horrified

by the news coming out of Connecticut.

When senseless violence

takes the most innocent of lives,

our grief is all the deeper.

Many will seek to turn

their outrage to action.

But now is not the time

for politics. Let us instead

 reflect upon what was lost

today, and first grieve together

for the victims, many of whom

were just children.
