friend
was latest
victim of nation’s
institutional bias, incarcerated
in one of
those “supposed” homes
where people
who would rather not
look at
people like us think we belong.
Instead, we
gather in defiance
on internet,
in person, to plan/plot/petition
vowing the
powers that be will fail
in attempt
to sentence you to a life
so different
from the one you desire/deserve/demand.
