Still Here



This poem is an example of  the beau presente form.  Poets are to compose a poem using only words that can be made from the letters in that person’s name. For example, if you selected “John Travolta,” you may only use words that can be made from the letters A, J, H, L, N, O, R, T and V.  I choose to use the form to write a elegy for my friend and fellow freedom fighter, Gayle Hafner.  That means I could only use A, E ,F, G, H, L, N, R, T, and Y.

Angle her energy-
a free eagle.
